Hi,
For many years we used the .prf files with our on-prem home_ server name listed, and all was well. We were also able to use the .prf file when we used live.edu for a year as all the users were on the same server. When we migrated to Office365, specifically the A2 plan, we haven't been able to.
Autodiscover works perfectly, the users just have to enter their username and password, and their outlook profile (either 2010 or 2013) is fully configured.
However, before Office 365 the users were not prompted for anything, including their username or pwd. The prf file provided the necessary info and everyone was happy. We do use adfs so that may be contributing to the challenge.
We use mandatory roaming profiles. Our students and staff cannot save any of their settings. We had exported the section of the registry to a network share and then re-imported the settings when they logged in again.
The basis of the real problem is that if I populate the .prf file with the server name, for example by2prd0310.outlook.com, similar to what we did with live.edu, outlook doesn't like the name, and will not resolve the users' mailbox even though it resides on that server. I think if we figure that out, we may be okay.
Any suggestions would be helpful!
Jim
