Since migrating to O365 a few months ago we've run into an intermittent issue with some Shared Mailboxes.
The issue, as it stands, is as follows:
Desktop Users (Windows XP, Outlook 2007) log-in to find that they can no longer access a specific shared folder. User has successfully connected to said shared mailbox previously. No administrative changes have been made to user shared mailbox account.
Shared mailbox IS still accessible to them via OWA. We've had this issue with about 4 different users with 2 different shared mailboxes. In the past, some of the issues seem to have resolved themselves, while others seemed to be resolved by running PST/OST repairs.
However, currently we have a user that is having this issue and thus far we have not been able to resolve it.
Here's some things we've tried (in no particular order):
1.) Verified user's Exchange account permissions (user CAN open mailbox via OWA) to shared mailbox.
2.) Removed/Re-installed Outlook 2007 from users PC
3.) Removed user's local mail profile
4.) Removed user's local PST/OST files.
5.) Ran PST/OST scan
We also verified that the issue seems to be related to something residing on the local machine /user profile in some way - that same user's network account was used on a different PC and was able to properly open the Shared Mailbox, as well as other users can user the Suspect PC without issue.
So the question is, what local file is causing this issue?? And more importantly, how do we prevent this? Since we've already run into this issue several times, I'm looking for a solution to the cause rather than just a fix for the symptom.
The specific error messaged as displayed in Outlook is : "Cannot display the folder. MS Office Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. Network problems are preventing connection to exchange".
The "network problems" doesn't add up as the system is online and connecting to the user's primary Exchange account just fine.
