I have my own domain name which I had purchased from Network Solutions.
I ran my own mail server from my home for years (just for personal study for MCSE, etc., etc.) and because I had a residential account with my ISP, I was not able to have a static IP but had to use dynamic DNS.
I decided that since I no longer do network engineering type work, I would keep my domain name, but have O365 host my email and host my public-facing website.
I moved my NS servers from the dynamic DNS provider to MSFT as per the instructions given in the O365 wizard and successfully verified that my NS records point to MSFT name servers.
After a short period of time, I confirmed email was flowing correctly by logging into the O365 OWA and sending emails to outside addresses as well as sending emails to my O365 hosted email (that uses my old domain name). So far so good. Everything works exactly as I expected.
The problem is with Outlook clients. When I go into the Outlook Account Configuration Wizard, the wizard can't successfully connect to O365 and create the account. This happens when trying Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013 Preview. I verified that the CNAME record for autodiscover was created and is in my DNS records.
Interestingly, client email configuration does work for my both my phone and my wife's phone, both Windows phones (mine Win 8 and hers Win 7.5).
My question is if this is really a function of time (DNS server propagation) or does this indicate a problem? If so, I can't see what it might be.
Please advise...
Thanks!
