Long delivery time

We've been experiencing delays in receiving mail from external sources. For example, we utilize scan-to-email quite often and our scanners are sending mail out of our network to our O365 domains. The email arrives in FOPE immediately, is processed, and queued for delivery...after that point it take hours before we ever see that message.

 

Why does delivery take so long? If I email myself from GMail, etc. I get the message almost instantly.
