I updated a Windows 7 desktop to Office Professional Plus 2013 (HUP release) a week ago. Installation was done after the removal of Office 2010 and two reboots before proceeding.
After installation of Office 2013 I modified several contact records in people > business cards - adding emails and changed the email display name in Outlook 2013 on the desktop.
Neither Outlook 2013 nor OWA are matching the contact's display name to their email in the mail section when email is received from the contacts that were modified using Outlook 2013. Contacts that have not been modified in Outlook 2013 do NOT exhibit these issues.
Example: email arrives from username@domainname.com versus John Doe (the display name set in the contact [now "people" section] of Outlook 2013.
Closing Outlook 2013 and checking OWA indicate that a sync did occur; as OWA shows the display name in the contact record. Unfortunately, it still does not match in mail (showing email address, not the contact's display name as set in the contact record).
This issue has since migrated to a Windows Phone 8 and the issue has compounded. The phone won't use the display name for any contacts modified in Outlook 2013 for either email received, or a phone call received.
When creating a new message (email) in both Outlook 2013 and OWA the contact's display name does match and verify. Outgoing calls made manually by entering the contact's phone number match to the contact.
The problem of the contact display name not matching only appears on the receipt end of either an email or a phone call, but impacts all Exchange Online or EAS products I have connected.
Thinking the contact records were corrupted I removed them completely and reentered them in Outlook 2013 and the problem still exists. My next step may be to remove the contacts and reenter them in OWA to see if that resolves the issue.
Even "wild" suggestions are appreciated, or at least will be amusing to read...
