Hello Everyone,
I have a client that needs to have the following working mail flow and hopefully one of you has run into this and has a simpler way.
user@externaldomain.com sends an email to usera@o365customer.com. We need to setup the rule on usera@o365customer.com so that the server side auto responder will send a response back to anyone who sends this particular mailbox a message. Usera@o365customer.com needs to be forwarded to distributiongroup@o365customer.com which includes userb, userc, userd@o365customer.com, etc.
What I have found is that I can setup a server side auto responder without issue but the moment I forward usera@o365customer.com in any of the several ways that o365 allows, the auto responder will stop working. What I eventually found is that I can setup the server side auto responder on usera@o365customer.com and then to facilitate the forwarding I have to setup a hub transport rule that will copy messages that are intended for usera@o365customer.com to userb, userc, etc. The problem here is that management by the end client of something like this is going to be very tough and I was hoping that there was a simpler solution and obviously they would like to eliminate utilizing a mailbox license for the simple server side auto responder if possible.
Any ideas guys?
