Outlook send/receive very slow

After setting up the users at my corporation with Office 365 onto the online Exchange servers, send/receive is very slow, and for some users it seems to hang for more than 10-30 minutes.


I've put the mail(Inboxes, Sent, Deleted etc.) from the personal folders they were using into the Exchange mailbox; some users had alot of mail (15000, messages in each folder, as well as many directories and subdirectories within the Inbox), and these users seem to be having the worst problems with the send/receive.


Have I somehow put the mail in incorrectly? Will this problem smooth itself out? I'm starting to get some frustrated coworkers! Any advice would help, because I'm not sure how to go about troubleshooting this.
