Calendar Time Zone Issue with Outlook

$

0

I am having trouble with the Outlook.  Summary:

Outlook 2010 connected using Exchange protocols

Android and iPad device also connected via Exchange

If an appointment is entered into Outlook 2010 it will sync with the exchange server and show up on an iPad and Android device.

Changes can be made on either remote devices and they will show up correctly in Outlook

If a change in made in the notes field in Outlook, the time will be changed on both the android and iPad (the android shows the event in both Central Time and Casablanca time).  The iPad will change the timezone to GMT.

The problem only happens when using Outlook.  Time zones work perfectly while using OWA.

I have tried to reconfigure Outlook by deleting the profile and setting up a new account.  The problem continues.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Outlook to work correctly with the exchange server?

Thanks-

Auto discovery configuration - autodiscover XML generation specific settings

$
0
0

Hi everyone,

As any Exchange O365 user knows we get Outlook automatic configuration from autodiscover.outlook.com

The XML file generated on the fly is what makes Outlook configure itself automatically with proper settings specific to the mailbox supplied during that process.

However the XML settings pushed back to Outlook by autodiscover.outlook.com are not ideal for my desired outcome. Outlook is set for cached exchange mode and also few specific settings are not what I want them to be.

I want to specify NTLM as the authentication method instead of automatic and also I want to have a check mark on "use https on slow or fast networks" under the advanced connection settings. Lastly I want cached exchange mode to be disabled. All of which is necessary to speed out Outlook start up time. Otherwise it waits for the "fast network" RCP method to time out until it falls back to https. Yes I know cached mode will "mask that" but then the wait is pushed to a later stage of the process - the stage where the user sits in front of an inbox with old e-mails until it downloads the new mail and then it still needs to go via the timeout process until the download actually starts.

If the autodiscover host was under my control in an on-prem environment those changes are simple in the XML template but how does one solve this in the O365 hosted Exchange?

Thanks

Problems with calendar invites from outside company after migration from google

$

Hi,

We have recently migrated from Google Apps to Office365 using migrationwiz and are having intermittent problems with calendar invites getting through to us. It works fine for 99% of invites, they go straight through to the diary and we can accept them in the normal way, but with the odd one it isn't getting through to us. I then log back into google (even though we have suspended the account) and the invite that the person sent is pending in our diaries in that location.

As this only happens for 1-2 invites per week, it is even more annoying as I can't seem to find a common problem with it.

Please can someone help stop this happening

Thanks

I have setup a dynamic distribution list called internal to send mail to all internal staff (similar to everyone in Exchange 2007) using powershell script below.

New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "Internal" -IncludedRecipients Mailcontacts -ConditionalDepartment wccc

I have checked the recipients in the list using the following commands

$DDG = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup internal
Get-Recipient -RecipientPreviewFilter $DDG.RecipientFilter

which returns all of the users required so everything seems ok. However when I try to send an email to internal@edgbaston.com it fails with

A lot of mail going to Junk in the past ~1 month

Hi,

Generally, EO's junk filter is great.

But in the past month or so, all my users are seeing a lot of "valid" email going to junk. Has something changed recently?

Is there anything I can do to "notch it down" a bit?

Delivery Report not available

Having sent an email and not received a reply after a few days, I followed up with the individual who says they never received the message.

Upon trying to view the Delivery Report in OWA I get the following;

Submitted
25/09/2012 12:03
The message was submitted.

Pending
27/09/2012 11:58
No further information is available about this message because the logs are no longer available

It is my understanding that delivery reports should be available for 14 days. Why would be logs not be available?

Many thanks

Mike

Incorrect unread count

Hi,

I recently migrated my mailbox from an IMAP server onto Office 365. The migration worked - except for one curious issue... The Drafts folder which is empty appears in bold with a 1 next to it indicating that there is an unread mail inside. How do i clear this? I've tried creating and deleting a draft email but that doesnt force the count to reset. Also i've checked that there are no filters on the view.

Thanks
Martin

Meeting requests sent from Office 365 are seen as links to exchange account's calendar

Hi,

Our office moved to new Office 365 on the cloud. We are facing issue with the meeting requests sent from Office 365 calendar. The recipients get the meeting request as a link in their mail clients. The mail clients where this issue has been seen are Outlook 2007, Thunderbird 15 and Evolution. They were using POP and IMAP protocols. But the meeting request mails were working earlier, before moving to Office 365. Some users who were using Exchange protocol see the meeting mails correctly. So did Microsoft drop support to POP and IMAP?

for one user some calendars sync; others don't between Outlook and O365

We have one user (this happens to others too but let's focus on this one user for now) who is sharing 3 room calendars.

One of the calendars syncs fine. It's called "cecmeetingroom2". We can create meetings in Outlook and all's well. When I click on calendar properties I can open the sync tab and see it's good.

Two of the calendars don't sync. This user can't create meetings directly in these room calendars ("can't connect to exchange" dialog message ...) and when the user opens the calendar properties and clicks on sync tab we get this error dialog "Information n the synchronization tab cannot be displayed. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed."

One of the problem calendars is room cecmeetingroom1 and the affected user is "thenl565"

PS> get-mailboxpermission cecmeetingroom1

We run Office Outlook 2010 with O365 and the O365 Office 'connector' download has been added to this computer.

Why does one calendar work "cecmeetingroom2" while 2 other identical calendars don't work?

And why is this only happening to one user right now. I have other staff with identical permissions for which these three calendars are working fine.

I haven't yet removed the .ost file or turned off 'cache-mode' because I don't know what's causing this problem.

Can we force sync to run always. why do some calendars have their own 'sync' behavior - which appears to be demonstrated in this problem?

Where is this problem occuring - in Outlook, in O365, in some permissions problem, unknown ???

Thanks

Email Monitoring

Is it possible to have emails sent to and from a group of users (4-5 email accounts) delivered into another account for monitoring purposes?

How can I show email messages that are read on the Samsung Galaxy S3 as read in Office 365?

$

Every email that is read on the phone and either moved into a subfolder or deleted, will show as read on the phone.  When I access email in Office 365 or in Outlook at a desktop, all the emails that were read, will still show as unread but will have been moved into the appropriate folder.  I am using the native app for email.  I have tried several other email apps and still get the same result.  It seems like it could be a timing issue with Active sync.  Please help.

Copying Calendar items from Default Outlook account to Exchange account

$

I'm using the latest version of Microsoft Outlook for MAC 2011 (All upgrades done). Apparently, there is an issue between Microsoft and Apple, so I was told to get and Exchange account which would then let me manage my calendar and sync with all my iDevices.

Been having a big problem trying to get my existing calendar events to Exchange. I can't seem to find documentation or help on how to do this. Have sent hours on the phone with various Microsoft "support" folks but that has been totally fruitless as no one seems to have a clue.

One tech tried to export the events but it'll only let you export to a OLM file type not a CVS so when we did an import, it simply created another calendar in Outlook but not in Exchange.

I'm pretty sure I am not the first person who wanted to do this so surely there is an answer somewhere. I was going to try to the same with my Contacts but no way will I even think about that now after this experience. Once I get my events into O365 calendar, I think I'll be able to sync with my iDevices. Getting them into Exchange (O365) seems to be the problem.

Help Please, Somebody!!!!! This can't be that difficult.
